Salla Salla Wilderness Park customer promise

At Salla Salla Wilderness Park we will take you out to explore the Lappish nature. We don’t use motors on our Wilderness Park excursions – you will be taken into Salla’s nature with reindeer or huskies. Low-emission four-stroke snowmobiles are only used for essential tasks, such as for providing safety on the husky excursions.

During the excursions, our staff tell our guests about the Lappish nature, animals, and Everyman’s Rights in their own words. We also provide you with information about self-guided excursions that can be done without a motor, using snowshoes, forest skis, a canoe, or by just hiking. Our guides are mostly local or people with excellent local knowledge.

Our main building is the centre of the Wilderness Park. Here you can buy lunch made with local products or fill up your water bottle. The reindeer meat, fish, and vegetables in our restaurant are mostly from Salla. We pick our own berries and mushrooms from the surrounding area. The rainbow trout comes from the pure waters of Naruska, the breads from the Kursulainen bakery, the pastries from our own kitchen, and the sauces and juices are local.

In the main building you will also find the Reindeer Park ‘Metsän Sali’ (Forest Hall), which is a magnificent exhibition on Lapland’s nature. The main building is heated in an environmentally friendly way using wood chips. In the main building and in the guides’ kitchen, we also sort all our waste from plastic to cardboard.

As proof of our impactful environmental work, we have been awarded the international Green Key certificate. We are proud of the recognition and continue our work for the environment together with all our staff.
