Arctic Phenomena Observation Point, Kaunisharju

Salla has several easily accessible places to observe the natural phenomena of the north, where you can enjoy the northern lights, the midnight sun, the splendor of autumn colors and the magnificent snow covered trees during winter. The first observation point was completed in the autumn of 2020. The magnificent Kaunisharju observatory is a place worth visiting. It is located next to the road in Kaunisharju, only 4 km from the center of Sallatunturi to the direction of Kuusamo. In the daylight landscapes open towards Kaunisharju and in the dark you can admire the starry sky, the moonlight or (if you are lucky) the Northern Lights! Be sure to warmly equip yourself as there is no fire place on the place. And as for the garbage, what you bring, you take away with you! Lets keep the place tidy together.
